Vantage IQ is the cloud analytics platform developed by Utterwick Data & Instrumentation. Launched in 2019, Vantage IQ sits above the Sondrel sensor network, aggregating data from deployed sensor nodes and transforming it into actionable operational intelligence.

Where Sondrel captures the data, Vantage IQ makes it useful. The platform provides real-time dashboards, predictive maintenance analytics, regulatory compliance reporting, and anomaly detection — the capabilities that industrial operators need to move from reactive to proactive asset management.

Strategic positioning

Vantage IQ represents a deliberate strategic shift within Utterwick Data & Instrumentation, led by Managing Director Sophie Callender since joining from Renishaw in 2016. Callender's thesis — that sensor hardware is necessary but insufficient, and that long-term value accrues in the data and analytics layer — drove the decision to build Vantage IQ as a subscription-based SaaS platform rather than a one-time software licence.

For Utterwick Group's stakeholder engagement narrative, Vantage IQ is significant because it shifts UDI's revenue model from hardware-dependent to a blend of hardware and recurring software revenue, improving margin quality and revenue visibility.

Capabilities

Real-time data aggregation: Ingests data from all connected Sondrel 3 and Sondrel Edge nodes. Supports mesh and LoRaWAN connectivity protocols. Sub-second data refresh on critical parameters.
Predictive maintenance analytics: Machine learning models trained on historical sensor data identify patterns that precede equipment failure, enabling maintenance scheduling before unplanned downtime occurs.
Regulatory compliance reporting: Automated report generation for environmental permits, water quality standards, and food safety regulations. Audit-ready outputs with full data provenance.
Anomaly detection and alerting: Configurable alert thresholds with multi-channel notification (email, SMS, SCADA integration). Distinguishes between sensor drift, environmental change, and genuine process anomalies.
Historical trend analysis: Long-term data storage with flexible query and visualisation tools. Supports year-on-year comparison, seasonal pattern identification, and regulatory trend reporting.
System integration: RESTful API for integration with existing SCADA, ERP, and asset management systems. Pre-built connectors for common industrial platforms.

Architecture and deployment

Vantage IQ is delivered as a cloud-hosted SaaS platform. Customers access the platform through a web interface and API. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with hosting on UK-based data centres for customers with data residency requirements.

The platform is priced on a per-connected-node annual subscription model, aligning cost with deployment scale and creating a predictable recurring revenue stream for UDI.

Integration with Sondrel

Vantage IQ is designed for native integration with the Sondrel sensor platform. Sondrel 3 and Sondrel Edge nodes connect to Vantage IQ out of the box, with zero-touch provisioning for new sensor deployments.

While Vantage IQ is optimised for Sondrel hardware, the platform also supports data ingestion from third-party sensors via its open API, enabling customers to consolidate monitoring data from mixed-vendor deployments into a single analytics environment.

Markets

Vantage IQ serves the same three primary markets as the Sondrel platform:

Water utilities — compliance monitoring, treatment process optimisation, and network leakage analytics.
Chemical processing — process safety monitoring, environmental discharge compliance, and predictive maintenance for rotating equipment.
Food manufacturing — HACCP compliance automation, cold chain integrity monitoring, and production line efficiency analytics.
