Contaminated Land Remediation

We design and deliver remediation strategies for brownfield and formerly developed sites. Our approach covers the full project lifecycle, from initial risk assessment through to validation and regulatory sign-off.

Remediation method statement preparation
On-site remediation supervision and management

Our remediation teams have worked on sites ranging from small petrol station forecourts to large-scale former industrial complexes. In March 2023, we completed our 3,412th site investigation, on a former gasworks site in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire.

Phase 1 and Phase 2 Environmental Assessments

Our Phase 1 desk studies provide an initial review of potential contamination risks associated with a site, drawing on historical mapping, regulatory data, and a site walkover. Where further investigation is needed, our Phase 2 intrusive investigations involve soil and groundwater sampling to characterise ground conditions.

Reports are prepared in accordance with BS 10175, the Land Contamination Risk Management (LCRM) framework, and relevant planning guidance. We routinely prepare reports for:

Residential and commercial development applications
Property transactions and due diligence
Part 2A determinations
Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)

Groundwater Monitoring

We install and manage groundwater monitoring networks for a range of clients including water companies, waste operators, and developers. Our monitoring programmes are designed to meet regulatory requirements and provide reliable long-term data.

Routine and event-driven sampling programmes
UKAS-accredited laboratory analysis

Environmental Permitting and Compliance
